SRFC youth section follows the RFU Continuum.

The Continuum has been specifically designed to introduce young players to the game in a safe and enjoyable way.

In summary:

Ø U7 and U8 age groups play a purely non-contact 7-a-side version of the game called Mini-Tag rugby. This concentrates on running, evasion and ball handling skills only.

Ø U9 and U10 age groups play a 9-a-side game and are introduced gradually to contact-play in a safe manner. This will include scrums and tackling.

Ø U11 and U12 age groups continue to be introduced to further aspects of the game and they play with 12 per side.

Ø From U13 upwards, the young players take part in a 15-a-side game which is very close to senior rugby.
