SRFC youth section asks that all players to take note of the following in order for us all to enjoy the season.
Ø All players should wear gumshields. Gumshields are available at all good sports stores or can be purchased from the club. Players who forget their gumshields will not be allowed to take part in contact training or in games. (U7 and U8 players play tag rugby which is non-contact but we still recommend players wear gumshields).)
Ø All players must wear regulation (kite marked) rugby studs in their boots. It is not necessary to specifically have rugby boots since these are not always available at sports shops and can be relatively expensive. Football boots with the studs changed out for rugby studs are acceptable. Boots with moulded soles and ‘Blades’ are also acceptable.
Ø When playing matches representing the club it is preferred for players wear club socks (brown and white) and white shorts. Club shirts will be provided. Socks (£4.50), shorts (£10) are available from the club. Junior shirts (£15) can also be purchased.
Ø Players should come to training prepared for the weather conditions. Sweatshirts or tracksuits etc should be worn as appropriate. Younger players may also wish to wear gloves/hats when it gets really cold. Coaches have been advised not to allow players to train in adverse conditions if they are not suitably attired.
Ø Our changing facilities are top class and we encourage all players to have a shower or bath straight after training or matches. Players will not be allowed in to enjoy the clubhouse facilities if they are wearing soiled kit.
