All members are advised that the Club is hosting the Essex Festival for U7’s, U8’s & U9’s on the 9th March 2008. If your squad are not playing away on Sunday the 9th March or not taking part in the festival, training will take place on the Saturday the 8th March at the normal time (10:30 to 12:00) as the festival will take up all our facilities and resources on the Sunday.

If you’ve not already been roped in as an individual to help out on the Sunday and would like to help out in any capacity please let Kevin / Lee or myself know by return.

We have a lot of roles to fill on the day, and want to ensure the event is a huge success which will benefit the club and in particular the Mini & Youth section of the club.

We also encourage as many people as possible to attend and show support for our participating team squads on the day and generally to support the event as a club, the occasion promises to be a great day out!

SRFC Mini & Youth PI Project

SRFC is associated with the PI Project. We are seeking as many volunteers (parents & kids) to take part in this one off community art project on the 12th April 2008.

The idea is that “Project Southend” is to muster as near to 7,500 members of our community as possible and perform a circle of light with a circumference of 8.33 miles, this circle of torchlight will branch out from the pier and work its way inland and over water to form a circle of light in the night sky. The light is created by people pointing their torch light to the sky at an exact time and lasting for 15mins.
This project aims to engage people into being a part of the art, the idea and uniting the community for a brief moment in time. This moment being documented from both sky and land.
Each Pi "Drawing to Performance" volunteer, will have been issued with a personal torch, and will stand or sit in their designated position for 15 minutes maximum so that the image can be captured from the air... When seen from the sky a circle (sections of a circle) will appear from the contemporary landscape.

Please visit the attached link to learn more about the event http://www.pi-project.co.uk/

A representative from the PI project will attend the club to address / brief all the mini & youth sides at training soon in order that we can fully engage with this experience.
